Founded in the summer of 2015. Our first lessons took place at Indian Landing in Port Sydney immediately after the Pan-Am games.  Our first pool session took place in October 2015 at Bracebridge Sportsplex pool.


Andy –  Coach

Andy has been  paddling all sorts of Canoes and Kayaks for over 40 years. He has raced Slalom, Whitewater racing, Marathon and Sprint in virtually all the canoe and kayak classes that exist. He has also played competitive Canoe Polo.

He lived and raced in both the UK and in Germany where he competed for the British Combined Services team and was also selected to race for the Great Britain team at the World Championships. He was recently selected to represent Canada at the World Wildwater Racing championships in C1.

Andy spent 6 years as a Physical Training Instructor in the British Royal Air Force. He is a qualified Physical Education Teacher and worked as a Development Coach for the British Canoe Union for 3 years. He has a degree in Sports Coaching.

He moved to Canada in 2007 where his love for paddling was re-born. Andy was part of the coaching team for the Canadian Team at the Whitewater Slalom event in the 2015 Pan-Am games and was a member of the coaching staff for the U23 and Junior, Canadian team at the World Championships in Poland in July 2016.

He has a passion for coaching which shows in his enthusiastic approach. Whether it be on flat or whitewater, Kayak or Canoe, being coached by Andy is always a pleasant and enlightening experience.

Andy has the following paddling qualifications:

  • Canoe Kayak Canada – Whitewater Kayak Leader Level 3
  • Canoe Kayak Canada – Whitewater Kayak Instructor Level 3
  • Paddle Canada – Advanced River Kayak Instructor
  • ORCKA Kayaking Moving Water Level 2 Instructor
  • ORCKA Canoe Moving Water Level 2 Instructor
